Canada Day Parade

Starts at 12 p.m.

Route: Fairholme Drive – Main Street – Railway Avenue – 10 Street

Show your parade spirit and participate in this year's theme: Wild and Free — celebrating the plants and animals that make the Rockies and Canmore special.

Enjoying the parade

  • Be prepared for weather changes and heat.
  • A water filling station will be available — please bring your reusable bottles.
  • Parade areas are no-splash zones — we appreciate you helping us to create a safe, enjoyable space for everyone.
2025 Canada Day Road Closure Map

Vehicle access to downtown Canmore will be impacted on July 1. The road closures accommodate the annual Canada Day parade.

Expect LIMITED TO NO vehicle access to downtown on Canada Day between 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Leave extra time to reach your destination on Canada Day.
  • There will be limited access to Elevation Place during road closures. Please walk, cycle or use free Roam public transit until Railway Avenue re-opens at 2 p.m.
  • Use Highway 1 / Three Sisters Parkway to access Canmore Nordic Centre or Kananaskis.
  • Consider running errands before July 1 due to downtown closures.

Registration for the 2025 Canada Day Parade is now open until June 16. Register now to enter for the parade.

Volunteer Roles

There are a variety of ways you can volunteer with us for Canada Day. Our goal is to provide you with a meaningful, engaging experience — one where you feel involved, valued, and have time to enjoy the festivities too!

Event Set-Up Team

Tasks include setting up rooms, moving tables and chairs, posting signage, and making sure everything's ready before the parade participants arrive.

Location: Canmore Recreation Centre (indoors and outdoors)
Shift: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Parade Route Team

Help check floats for safety and compliance, walk the route to keep things moving, pick up waste, keep the public off the parade route, and make sure the energy stays high. This role could involve walking the entire parade route.

Location: Parade route (outdoors)
Shift: 11:30 a.m. – 2 pm

Cooling Team

Distribute water bottles, double-check waivers, and offer friendly support to participants waiting for the parade to start.

Location: Fairholme Drive and 15 Street (outdoors)
Shift: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Horse Staging Team

Help check in equestrian participants, guide them through staging, and provide directions and information to ensure both humans and animals are parade-ready.

Location: Horse staging area
Shift: 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Hospitality Team

Support hospitality needs by delivering food and beverages and helping manage the hospitality suite throughout the day.

Location: Canmore Recreation Centre and parade route (indoors and outdoors)
Shift: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Event Tear-Down Team

Wrap up the day by helping us leave Canmore even better than we found it! Tasks include cleaning up rooms at the Canmore Recreation Centre and tidying the parade route.

Location: Canmore Recreation Centre and parade route (indoors and outdoors)
Shift: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
