Sensory-Friendly Toys Together is a drop-in child development designed specifically for caregivers and children ages 0 – 6 who can benefit from a low sensory environment.

Lights will be dimmed and sensory toys such as fidgets and headphones will be provided. This is an open space to play, explore, and socialize with others. Toys are provided to help children learn through free play, to encourage imagination and creativity, and to develop fine and gross motor skills. Families may join and leave at any point during each session.  

What to bring: Any personal items such as snacks, water, diapers, toys etc.

Mini Mingles is designed for parents with infants ages 0-12 months and soon-to-be parents expecting babies.

This drop-in program allows you and your baby (or soon-to-be baby) the opportunity to connect with families in Canmore in a casual, unstructured setting. Developmental resources, Ages and Stages Questionaries, and more will be available. Participants may join and leave at any point during each session.

What To Bring: Blankets, and any personal items such as snacks, water, and diapers.

Program Dates: Thursdays until May 15 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Toys Together+ will conclude with a dance party at 11:15 a.m. Families may join and leave at any point during each session.

Join the Town of Canmore and the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 4pm-9pm at Elevation Place for a fun, educational day promoting a circular economy in Canmore. After a highly successful pilot event in Banff, we look forward to continuing this journey as a community!

What is a Share and Repair Fair?

This is a FREE community event that promotes circular economy and waste reduction through free repair, share and reuse services, workshops, and presentations. We aim to feature 10-20 local businesses and organizations that contribute to reuse, repair, recycling, upcycling and sharing in Canmore and across the Bow Valley.

What is a circular economy?

Circular economy is based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems.

What will the day look like?

Fair: 4pm-9pm
Free clothing swap, workshops, light snacks, refreshments, live music and more!

Local businesses, organizations and vendors will be providing on-site repairs, workshops and information.

Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility. Join the Town of Canmore, Town of Banff, MD of Bighorn, Parks Canada, Alberta Wildfire, Alberta Parks, and the RCMP to learn about what we have done to prepare for emergencies in the Bow Valley, and to find out about what you can do to protect yourself, your family, and your community this hazard season.

• Demonstrations of the equipment used in structure protection and wildland firefighting
• Find out about current wildfire mitigation projects
• Learn about community preparedness and evacuations
• Register for emergency alerts and notifications
• Sign up in person at the Fire Station to get an exclusive tour of the Debris Flood Retention Structure at Cougar Creek (limited spaces available; tours are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.)

The Town of Canmore is hosting its annual Pride Flag raising on Thursday, May 15 in a worldwide celebration of sexual and gender diversity and to observe the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (Saturday May 17th). Equipment Needed: Stroller, weather-appropriate clothing and any personal items such as snacks, water, and diapers.

Sensory-Friendly Toys Together is a drop-in child development designed specifically for caregivers and children ages 0 – 6 who can benefit from a low sensory environment.

Lights will be dimmed and sensory toys such as fidgets and headphones will be provided. This is an open space to play, explore, and socialize with others. Toys are provided to help children learn through free play, to encourage imagination and creativity, and to develop fine and gross motor skills. Families may join and leave at any point during each session.  

What to bring: Any personal items such as snacks, water, diapers, toys etc. 

Note: This is a parented program and caregiver supervision of children is always required. 

Time:

• Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:45-9:30 a.m.
• Saturdays from 8:45-9:30 a.m. until June 28

This program will be facilitated by a Family Connection Centre staff member who will be available to share optional child development resources.
