Electric Vehicle Public Charger Incentive
Applications open Feb. 2026
Electric vehicles (EVs) reduce greenhouse gas emissions and traffic noise while improving local air quality. To make EV charging more accessible, we’re offering incentives to install publicly available Level 2 EV chargers in commercial or multi-family parking lots.
Funding for businesses and condominium corporations to install EV chargers is available through Alberta Municipalities.
Details: The incentive covers 75% of the cost to install a publicly available Level 2 charger, up to $10,000. A Level 2 charger uses 240-volt AC electricity, providing an average of 30 km of range per hour of charge.
Eligibility:
- Commercial parking lots that would make chargers available for all customers and employees.
- Multi-family buildings that would make chargers available to all residents (not in someone’s titled stall).
- The incentive does not apply to retroactive projects.
- Installation and electrical inspection must be completed by Dec. 15.

Solar Incentive Program
Applications open Feb. 2026
Our community values our mountain environment, and investing in solar energy can be a great way to reduce emissions while lowering energy costs. However, upfront costs can be a barrier. That’s why we offer an annual incentive to help offset the cost of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for Canmore residents and businesses.
Details: 20 incentives of $1,250 are available to support the installation of a solar photo voltaic rooftop array for Canmore homeowners.
Eligibility: Residential homes (single family, duplexes, tri- and four-plexes, individual townhouses, etc.).
- The array must have a minimum of 3 kW.
- The incentive is not retroactive for existing systems.
Details: The commercial incentive amount is based on the system size. Incentive amounts are $750/kW to a maximum of $20,000.
Eligibility:
- The incentive applies to both new construction and existing buildings.
- For multi-family buildings, the system must serve the common areas and/or all units.
- The incentive is not retroactive for existing systems.
- Installation and electrical inspection must be completed by Dec. 15.
