The Town of Canmore Launches Connect Downtown: Planning a Vibrant Town Centre

Committee of the Whole heard details of the official launch of a new project to create a vision for the long-term vibrancy of the Town’s core over the next 25 years to the year 2050. Connect Downtown: Planning a Vibrant Town Centre will lead to an Area Redevelopment Plan that will support the Downtown area’s continued growth and evolution as a place where people gather, shop, dine, and interact. There will be multiple ways for the public to provide input over the lifespan of the project, with the first major engagement phase launching in early 2024. 2023 Safe Park Program

Committee of the Whole heard an update on the 2023 Safe Park program, which saw a significant increases in the number of people participating in the program. Changes to the program for 2023 resulted in reduced security costs, simplified tracking and enforcement, and higher participant satisfaction. Council will be considering the future of the program as part of budget amendments for 2024.

  1. Heard an update on the Community Monitoring Report.
  2. Heard from a delegation, Canmoreland - a non-profit focused on acquiring real estate space of all kinds for the social benefit of the local community and its people.
