Railway Avenue Update

Committee of the Whole received a progress update on planned enhancements to Railway Avenue Central. Design efforts are underway to finalize intersection signalling, refine Main Street intersection geometry, and optimize designs in front of Elevation Place. Construction will not take place this summer, administration will return in September with an update on next steps.

The focus for the 2024 season will shift to the Bow Valley Trail and Teepee Town project which kicked off earlier this month and wraps up in the fall.

Bow Valley Non-Profit Sector

Committee of the Whole heard an update about the current state of the Bow Valley Non-Profit sector. Vital to building resilient communities, non-profits work primarily as advocates, capacity builders, partners, and as collaborators that community members rely upon to help increase the quality of live and support for residents throughout the Bow Valley. The update to Council highlighted the challenges, needs, and strengths of the non-profit sector as it recovers from the residual impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and responds to the changing needs of our world.

To read more about the status of the Bow Valley Non-Profit sector see item #D-1 in today's council agenda: Council Meetings: Town of Canmore

Committee of the Whole also:

  1. Heard about the work the Canmore Young Adult Network is doing in the community.
  2. Reviewed the Code of Conduct Bylaw for elected officials and will consider updates at a future meeting.
