What is Happening

From July 28 to Sept. 26, TransAlta will be conducting routine repairs on the Spray Canal to support the long-term safety and reliability of the Spray Hydro facility. As part of this work, Rundle Forebay water levels will be temporarily reduced—this is normal and expected. We have temporarily shifted to the downtown pumphouse, which draws from groundwater, to ensure that our community has interrupted access to clean drinking water.

What You Need to Know

To help manage demand on the system, Phase 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions take effect July 14 and remain in place throughout the project.

What You Need to Do

Follow mandatory water restrictions when they are in place, or you may face fines.

The mandatory restrictions apply to all Town of Canmore water utility customers, including residences, businesses and organizations, and Town of Canmore operations, with some exceptions that allow certain customers to continue outdoor water use for health and safety reasons or for core business needs.

Phase 1 restrictions:

  • No filling of fountains or ponds
  • Sprinkler use limited to 2 hours, 1 day per week between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m.
