Families across the province are feeling the added pressures with the Alberta Teachers Association potential job action as of Oct. 6, 2025 — including right here in Canmore.
To help ease some of that pressure and support families in the Bow Valley, the Town of Canmore’s Recreation Services team has stepped up to offer temporary expanded programming while school days are on pause. This includes:
- Child and youth school care camps offering three-hour day camp time slots, cost is $45 for non-members and $36 for members. View programs and register here.
- Expanded family swim hours at Elevation Place Aquatics Centre. All children 8 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver 13 years of age or older and swim within arm’s reach. View our Recreation Calendar for updated hours.
- Fitness classes for youth ages 11 – 15 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Elevation Place (Room 209). View schedule and book classes here.
- Daytime drop-in climbing programs for children ages 4 – 6 and 7 – 10. View schedule and book classes here.
- Added child and family public skate programs at the Canmore Recreation Centre including U12 stick & pucks, youth shinny, public skates and drop-in figure skating. View the Recreation Calendar for current schedule.
Temporarily expanded programming is included in a Go Beyond membership and can also be accessed with day passes. Learn more about memberships here.
