Social Connections for Children, Youth, and Families
Our Program
The Town of Canmore Social Connection team focuses on building connections between children, youth, teens, and families by identifying gaps in social programming for families in the community and providing programs in alignment with these needs. Programming focuses on child and youth development and bringing families together to create a socially connected community.

Upcoming programs available through the SCS include:
Toys Together is a drop-in child development program for caregivers and young children ages 0-6. This is an open space to play, explore, and socialize with others. Toys are provided to help children learn through free play, use their imagination, and develop fine and gross motor skills. Families may join and leave at any point during each session. Each day will finish with a circle time session with songs and stories.
Location: Family Connection Centre, 600A 9 St. Canmore
Equipment Needed: Blanket, any personal items such as snacks, water, diapers, toys
Program Dates: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays: Jan. 4 - June 28
Mondays from 2:00-4:45 p.m.
Wednesdays & Saturdays from 9:00-11:45 a.m.
Wednesdays: July 5 - Aug. 30 from 9 - 11:45 p.m.
Note: Toys Together will not run on Feb. 20
Join a local music therapist for themed 45-minute sessions to explore songs, instrument playing, creative movement, dancing, and music activities. Music encourages social skills, foster language development, refines gross motor skills, and offers the opportunity for self-expression. Get Messy is a program for children ages 2-5 that supports exploring senses through play - as an important part of toddler development. Outdoor stations are set up, allowing your toddler to participate in open-ended play, which allows you and your child to have fun, experience new sensations, and not worry about the clean-up. Registration is required for each session.

Tuesday, July 11 from 11-12 p.m.
Friday, August 18 from 11-12 p.m.
Equipment Needed: Clothing for you and your child that you do not mind getting messy and wet.
Babies and Blankets is designed for parents with infants ages 0-12 months. This drop-in program allows you and your baby to have the chance to meet other families with young children in Canmore in a casual, unstructured setting. Participants may join and leave and any point during each session.

June, July & Aug. - Green space outside the Family Connection Centre
Program Dates: Thursdays May 4 - August 31 from 1-2:30 p.m.
