Town of Canmore

1717 Mountain Avenue Visitor Accommodation Development (Hotel)

What is Happening?

A 46-unit visitor accommodation development in two buildings located on privately owned land at 1717 Mountain Avenue was approved by the Canmore Planning Commission on November 24, 2021. This is a permitted use in the BVT-G District.

The application complies with the Land Use Bylaw with the exception of one variance to the required front yard build to line. The bylaw requires at least 20% of the building to be 3.0 m from the front property line, but the building is 6.2 m back from the front property line.

The application also includes a new pathway along Mountain Avenue to improve transportation options in the area.
