| The best part of working for the Town is getting to know the people who work along side you. We have a great group of people on staff and we make sure we have fun at work.
Throughout the year we have several activities that bring staff together to socialize and get to know each other. These include last Friday of the month social club get togethers at local restaurants, Employee Recognition each spring, a beautiful Christmas party, and two all staff general assemblies each year.

Larry was born & raised in Canmore and worked in the Canmore mines from 1970 to 1973. Working underground he operated the Air Motor, (a version of an underground train) moving coal cars to the surface. Later he worked on the surface and operated tracked drills exploring for coals seams. Larry started with the Town of Canmore in 1973 and has worked in Public Works, Parks & Recreation and the old Sewer & Water departments. He is currently a Operator 3 with Streets & Roads. With his experience Larry has developed a vast knowledge of the Towns infrastructure and is seen as an invaluable resource.
Larry is an avid supporter of the Canmore Eagles and acts as a scout for the team.He is a fan of the Calgary Flames and the Stampeders. In the summer, Larry can be found at the local fishing holes pitting his skills against the mighty trout. It’s not a well kept secret that Larry is a Canmore SANTA, volunteering his time for such events as the annual Skate on the Pond.

Friendly, outgoing, and dynamic are words often used to describe Silke Neumann, the Town's Civic Centre Front Reception Supervisor. A 20 year resident of the Bow Valley, Silke has been working for the Town for four years. She is known for providing excellent customer service and inspiring others to strive to do so as well. She's also known and loved for her amazing pastry skills and her energetic and dynamic aerobics instruction. |
Derek has lived in Canmore for 9 years. He worked in the Solid Waste division for 2 years and currently works for the Parks Department, where he's worked for almost 1 year. Derek is well liked throughout the Town. He's known for his huge smile and kind and friendly demeanour. Derek and his wife Candice are proud parents to a beautiful baby boy, Jaxon. Derek moved to Canmore from Winnipeg in search of a home where he could support my outdoor life style and find new challenges. Derek loves the outdoors, almost any activity. In the summer, when he's not spending time with family you may find him caneoing, biking, hiking or playing golf at Canmore Golf and Curling Club. Last winter he took up Classic Cross country skiing, so during the cold months he takes full advantage of the Canmore Nordic Centre. |
As the Executive Assistant to the Mayor and Executive Office Suzette Cardinal is known as the woman in charge! She holds a key role in ensuring that Council is well informed and that business gets done. Suzette has worked for the Town for over 15 years and is well loved and respected by all. She was 14 when she moved to Banff so she’s been in the valley for over 35 years. Yes, that makes her 50+! For those of you not yet 50 yourself, may you look as good and laugh as often as Suzette when you get there.

More than 10 years ago Gary Buxton moved to Canmore for his job as Manager of Planning and Development. Ask Gary about that move and he’ll tell you that he wishes he’d arrived sooner. He's moved up and become our General Manager of Infrastructure. He loves living here and it shows! In addition to working incredibly hard, gaining the respect and admiration of his peers and staff, Gary also gains respect on the Mountain Bike trails. He’s an avid cyclist who came in 2nd in his solo category in the 2008 24 hrs of Adrenaline and 32nd (out of 120) in the 2007 TransRockies with co-worker Alaric Fish. |
