Canmore’s Town Council is the legislative body that represents the citizens of Canmore, provides leadership and establishes policies and priorities for Canmore’s municipal government. Council reviews and establishes budget levels for civic operations and capital expenditures.

Town Council is made up of the Mayor and six Councillors. All members of Council hold office for three-year terms. The current Council was elected in October of 2010. The Mayor chairs meetings of Council. Each year the Mayor and Council are appointed to represent all of Council by sitting on a variety of Town and Regional committees and boards.

Town Council holds two regular business meetings each month (the first and third Tuesday of each month). Council also holds one Committee of the Whole meeting each month (the second Tuesday of each month). Meetings are open to the public and agendas are available from the Civic Centre, Library, or at the Town’s website
