MAYOR'S SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTS Friday September 28, 2012
Now accepting submissions for the Lamphouse Endowment for the Arts Fund Emerging Artist Bursary ($2500). Recognizing an up and coming artist who shows promise, an emerging artist who may benefit from further education or exploration. (Open to emerging artists 17 to 25 years of age). The Town of Canmore is proud of the accomplishments of past Emerging Artist Bursary recipients Shane Arsenault (2011), Michael Grant (2010) and Martin Lenes (2009).

2011 Mayor's Spotlight on the Arts MENTORSHIP PROGRAM As lead-up to the Mayor’s Spotlight on the Arts, an event hosted by the Town of Canmore on September 30, several young Canmore writers have been interviewing and writing articles on each of the artists being recognized this year. Local writer, Heather Walter, has been serving as mentor to high school student Rachelle Rice and two recent grads, Dakota Montgomery and Chandler Freeman-Orr. “Working alongside these bright, enthusiastic and talented young women has been a real treat. I look forward to reading more from these young women in the years to come.” Rachelle Rice is a grade eleven student at Canmore Collegiate. She loves words more than anything in the world. Dakota Montgomery graduated from Canmore Collegiate two years ago. Currently an aviation student at Mount Royal University in Calgary, she writes for the enjoyment of it. Chandler Freeman-Orr is a recent Canmore Collegiate graduate with a strong love of music, literature, and writing.
