Rundle Crescent Ice Surface

Open space off Rundle Crescent

  • This surface is appropriate for toddlers and young children
  • There are no lights or washrooms at this site
  • This ice surface will be monitored daily and flooded as ice conditions dictate.

Amenities:

  • Ice surface
  • Playground adjacent to surface
 
Peaks Park Ice Surface

Green space on the east end of Lawrence Grassi Ridge & Wilson Way.

  • This surface is appropriate for toddlers and young children
  • There are no lights or washrooms at this site 
  • This ice surface will be monitored daily and flooded as ice conditions dictate

Amenities:

  • Ice Surface
  • Playground adjacent to surface
  • Benches
  • Roadside parking only
 
Cougar Creek Boarded Ice Rink

The Cougar Creek Ice Rink location is on the corner of Elk Run Blvd and Canyon Road.

  • It is appropriate for all age groups allowing stick and pucks.

Amenities:

  • Skating / hockey rink with boards and nets
  • Player benches
  • Lights for night use until 10pm
  • Portable washrooms located on site
  • Parking at Cougar Creek Trail Head
 
Larch Outdoor Ice Rink

The Larch ice rink is located on 1200 17th Street.  This surface is approximately 25m x 50m.  This rink is maintained by the Parks Department.  Ice maintenance
occurs daily with ice building and patch filling when necessary and flooding with the resurfacer 3 - 5 times per week (weather dependant). 

Amenities:

  • Skating / hockey rink with boards and nets
  • Appropriate for all age groups allowing sticks and pucks. 
    •
  • Small skating surface adjacent to rink (10m diameter)
  • Lights for night use until 10pm
  • Portable washrooms located on site
 
The Pond Natural Ice Surface

Located on 7th Avenue at Mallard Alley (just two blocks from Main Street). The surface is approximately 100m X 60m. The Pond is the site for several Town winter special events (Skate with Santa, New Years on the Pond, Kid & Mutt Races, Ice Carving). The pond is appropriate for all age groups and is ideal for families.


This surface is the number one priority for the Parks Dept. maintenance program. Ice maintenance occurs daily with ice building and patch filling when necessary and flooding with the resurfacer 3-5 times per week (weather dependant).

Amenities:

  • Picnic Tables & Benches
  • Lights for night use until 10pm
  • Open style gazebo with benches, sign board and thermal heating
  • Waste receptacles
  • Washrooms located at the Information Centre on 7th Avenue
  • Small parking lot and roadside available, as well as downtown parking lots less than 100m away
