Quarry Lake Park

No Lifeguards on duty - swim at your own risk.

Quarry Lake Park is one of Canmore’s favourite outdoor recreational areas. Located along Spray Lakes Road on the south side of the Bow Valley it has spectacular views of Ha Ling Peak, Mount Lady MacDonald, and the Rundle Range. Reclaimed from an old mining area Quarry Lake is one of Canmore’s many environmental success stories. The lake is over 100 metres deep in some areas and fed by an underground mountain spring making it only suitable for swimming in July and August. The area connects to extensive trails in the area for walking, biking and cross country skiing. In addition there is an adjacent designated Off-leash Dog park.

The Park is jointly managed by the Town of Canmore and the Rocky Mountain Heritage Foundation.

The lake is surrounded by an open park area that is gradually returning to its former wild state. Perfect for a picnic or soaking up the rays the park is available for private rentals.

Portions of the Quarry Lake lands are environmentally sensitive including wildlife corridors, habitat patches and salamander ponds located on the southern portion of the lands. Please be aware and watch for closures in the area.

The park is open daily year round 5am – 11pm.
