Equipment and Maintenance Services
The Streets & Roads Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and purchase of all the Town of Canmore's Equipment Pool, with the exception of Emergency Services Department Vehicles. The operation, maintenance and upkeep of the Town Shop and management of the parts inventory system is also undertaken by this department.

  • responsible for the regular street sweeping programs
  • provides and/or administers crack sealing program
  • pothole and asphalt patching of streets
  • sidewalk repair program
  • lane grading and rehabilitation
  • crosswalk/message & center line painting
  • traffic and regulatory signage
  • any miscellaneous maintenance of streets

The Town of Canmore 1992-17 Streets and Roads Bylaw (with Amendments) authorizes the Manager of Public Works to issue Road Right-of-Way Usage Permit. The reserving of street space is only for vehicles and/or persons while actively engaged in work at that location. Also, a Block Party Permit is required when a group of residents wish to close off a Road Right-of-Way for the purpose of a social function.

Snow & Ice Control
As of November 1, 2005 Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd. Highway Maintenance Division has been contracted to manage the Town of Canmore’s Snow and Ice Control on municipal roadways. All concerns and or complaints are to be addressed to Volker Stevin at:
1-888-VS-Roads (1-888-877-6237) 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
