A Disaster refers to an event that results in serious harm to the safety, health or welfare of people or in widespread damage to property.

The Risk Assessment is reviewed annually and takes into consideration historical occurrence and frequency as well as potential impact to the community. The primary risks affecting the Town of Canmore are:

·             Forest / Wildfire

·             Rail accident

·             Severe weather: blizzard, windstorm
