The Town of Canmore is pleased to provide quality day camps for children and youth in our community.

Our commitment is to ensure your child has a safe, rewarding and memorable day camp experience. Through carefully planned itineraries, we will provide meaningful and age-appropriate activities that take into consideration Canmore and our local resources.

Our Staff
Our day camp leaders know how to create fun in an environment that is safe, and fosters learning and growth! We understand the importance of building positive relationships between staff and participants. Each day camp leader has an RCMP Security Clearance, current first aid certification and takes part in pre-camp training sessions.

Age Categories
Our programs are offered for children/youth aged 4-15 years of age. Please note children must be “age appropriate” by December 31st in order to register for camp.

Ratios
Unless otherwise stated, leader to participant ratios at Big Fun are as follows:

4-5 year olds 1:6
6-7 year olds 1:8
8-9 year olds 1:12
10-11+ year olds 1:15

What to Bring to Camp
Please send your child with a water bottle, clothing for changing weather conditions, appropriate footwear, swim suit and towel (on swim days), and a backpack. All items should be personally labeled.

Lunch and Snacks
Participants are required to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks. Peanut butter, nuts and all foods containing nut by-products are not permitted at camp. Any addition allergy concerns will be posted at camp.

Pool Safety
In order to keep your child safe in the pool, we ask that you advise our day camp leaders if your child needs to wear a life jacket. Participants will receive an orientation prior to entering the pool. Please note all preschool camp participants are required to wear a life jacket and will be limited to the hot tub and the shallow end of the pool.

Children with Special Needs
We encourage children with disabilities and/or special needs to participate in our program. Please inform the Recreation and Leisure Program Coordinator at 403-678-0808 ext 333 of your child’s needs prior to registering to ensure a positive day camp experience.

Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available to families thanks to the community support of local service organizations. Please contact us directly for application details.
